The courses of study bulletin is the official source of information regarding degree requirements, academic policies, and academic programs at Trinity University.
These two courses, taken simultaneously, are highly integrated, combining projects and lectures to show the connections between economic theory, health care policy, and innovation. Emphasis is on innovation and creative approaches to current health challenges. Students participate in “Tiger Tank”, a project that challenges students to use design thinking, creative problem solving, and an entrepreneurial mindset, culminating in a pitch competition where groups pitch their solution to a problem to external judges.
This course serves as a bridge between the academic setting and the residency experience. Each student participates in two separate consulting groups to develop and deliver real-world projects to varied health care organizations. Working directly with these organizations, student teams complete a project designed in collaboration with a health care organization. Final presentations are delivered to the sponsoring executives at the client site.
This is a two-course sequence in leadership development. The first course focuses on “leading yourself” with an emphasis on professional development, emotional intelligence, and crucial conversations. The second course focuses on “leading others”. The two-course sequence is designed to give students the tools to become highly effective leaders.
Introduces the fundamentals of guiding and sustaining health care organizational performance improvement, including leadership, culture, employee onboarding and engagement, customer relationship management, and contemporary performance improvement concepts, tools, and techniques.
An analysis of the strategic planning and marketing processes used by health care managers. Students examine how these models and methodologies apply to patients, physicians, and managed care buyers as separate markets for health care services.
Students gain an understanding of the process, priorities, motivations, strengths, and limitations of clinical decision-making while exploring the relationship between and among clinicians rendering patient care.
Faculty develop close ties with students and work diligently to support their success well into their careers. Through a culture that prioritizes students and relationships that last a lifetime, faculty are committed to fostering future leaders who think critically and who will transform health care.
Scholarships may be awarded to students based on merit or financial need. The availability and amount of these awards vary each year.
Students spend 12-months working full-time as a resident in a health care organization before graduation to gain practical experience.
Trinity University graduate students regularly visit and observe leading health care facilities during the first two semesters.
All first-year students attend this annual health care leadership conference through ACHE.
Opportunities for experiential learning include the residency program, case competitions, capstone projects, and weekly site visits.
The HCAD Alumni Association hosts an annual awards dinner to recognize and honor the achievements of distinguished alumni.
